Greetings TSES Families,

We had an amazing time during last Friday's Hispanic Heritage Celebration.  It was great to see our families and staff together enjoying the food, music, and dancing!  We are already looking forward to next year's event!

We have so much to celebrate and would like to highlight our talented students.

Message from the Health Room

Dear TSES Community:

Each year, the Howard County Public School System partners with the Maryland Partnership for Prevention to bring flu immunizations into our schools for students.  This year, they will also be offering the latest Covid vaccine if it is available at the time of the clinics.  The clinic at TSES will be held on October 30, 2024 during school hours.  If you would like your child to be vaccinated against the flu and/or Covid at this clinic, please register at this link:  https://www.marylandvax.org/appointment/en/reg/1252974605.  You are not required to provide your child’s insurance information.  If you have any concerns about the covid vaccine, you are advised to speak with your child’s pediatrician. All in-school clinics will be closed to registration one week before the clinic date to allow our health room staff time to review and prepare the consents and make sure enough vaccine is ordered.  If you wish to cancel your child’s appointment after then, please call the nurse at your child’s school.  If you have any questions, please call your school’s health room at 410-313-6918.

Green Apple Day of Service

Join us on Saturday, Oct. 26th @ 10:00 for our Annual Green Apple Day of Service.  We will be getting the garden ready for winter, weeding the gardens in the front of the school and picking up trash.

School Wide Title I Program

Talbott Springs Elementary is a Title I School wide Program school. Title I is a federally funded program designed to close achievement gaps and ensure all children have an opportunity to access a high-quality education by providing funding for supplemental academic services and supports. A Family-School Compact & Plan is an agreement between families, students, and teachers that is jointly developed and distributed to all families. It explains how families, students, and teachers will work as a team to make sure all students meet with success and get the support they need to achieve grade level goals.

The Talbott Springs Family School Compact and Plan & Calendar of Events for 2024-2025 will be coming soon! We collaborated with many families last week to get feedback and input on this year's Compact and Plan.

Unity Day

Wednesday, October 16- UNITY DAY and Optional Staff and Student Spirit Day

Every year on the third or fourth Wednesday in October, a very special event comes around — the Day of Unity, or Unity Day, as it is commonly called.  This year Unity Day will be celebrated on October 16th. This is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month, also in October. The key message of this month, and this day, is to unite for kindness, courage, and inclusion, to prevent students from being bullied.  Here are the ways our school is going to celebrate Unity Day this year.

  • Wear orange on Wednesday, 10/16 to show your active support for anti-bullying.

  • Spend the day taking part in random acts of kindness. This could be smiling at a stranger or spending quality time with an old friend. The possibilities are endless!
